Welcome to our London Christmas Shopping Guide 2015.
Over the next few weeks we'll be pointing you in the direction of our favorite shops and shopping neighbourhoods near the meeting and ending points of our London Walks …
No.30. The Southbank
Molly writes…
On the South Bank by the National Theatre and Festival Hall they have set up all the Christmas Market stalls.
I was there last night and they really are very good. So if you are doing a Westminster walk all you have to do is walk across one of the
bridges.
You can ask for directions from Molly tomorrow at the end of the Westminster Walk.
Adam adds…
Never miss the open air book market when you are in that neck of the woods. Shopping at its most delightfully basic – secondhand books laid out on simple tables. Great bargains to be had on books and prints and comics. And what premises! The roof was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott (Waterloo Bridge) and the north-facing boundary can claim to be some 58 million years old… it’s the River Thames. Air conditioned by a soft southwesterly (!!) it’s one of the capital’s great delights, browsing for books in the open air by the water. You might call it messing about near boats – to paraphrase Ratty in that greatest of all Thames novels, The Wind In The Willows.
