First flown in 1995, the AirCam kitplane was designed for the National Geographic Society for research and photography in the northern Congo rainforest region. It was built to fly low and slow and to provide a wide, unobstructed view, with the additional security of a second engine. As of 2019, 250 AirCams were licensed and flying. The AirCam can land in 500 feet and takeoff under 200 feet.
