The Planes of Fame airshow never disappoints in their selection of participating warbirds, such as this P-38 from the PoF collection “23 Skidoo”, next to the Allied Fighters P-38 “Honey Bunny”.  “23 Skidoo” never saw any combat before being surplused and changing hands until being restored to flying condition in 1988. The P-38 wears the markings of “23 Skidoo”, flown by Captain Perry J. “Pee Wee” Dahl of the 432th Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group.  First flown in 1939, more than 10,000 Lightnings were produced, with ten currently airworthy examples.
