Lockheed P-38F Lightning ‘Glacier Girl’

February 2008

This was taken during the first ISAP symposium I attended in 2008 at Fort Worth, Texas.  One of the field trips was to the Lockheed Martin plant where they posed a new F-35 Lightning II with Glacier Girl, flown in by Steve Hinton.  Glacier Girl is famous as being the P-38 recovered from Greenland in 1992, where it had crash landed in 1942 and ended up being buried by over 260 feet of ice.  Nikon D70 w/14-24mm, re-edited with Aperture.
