Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor

@ Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Honolulu, HI

December 2023

Caught this F-22 Raptor “elephant walk” taxiing by from the United Club at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).  An elephant walk is a USAF term for the taxiing of military aircraft right before takeoff, when they are in close formation, though in this instance they were taxiing after landing. Hickam AFB merged with Naval Station Pearl Harbor to become part of the Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam. The base neighbors HNL and shares runways with the airport for its activities and purposes. The Hawaii Air National Guard has been operating F-22’s here since 2010. First flown in 1997, the F-22 entered service in 2005 with a total production run of 195 aircraft.
