@ Kaneohe, HI

August 2022

Taken during the 2022 Kaneohe Bay Air Show, this Viper accelerates for its next maneuver and pulls some vapor out of the humid Hawaiian air as Maj. Josiah “Sirius” Gaffney demonstrates the agility of his aircraft.  This aircraft (from the 13th Fighter Squadron) is assigned to the F-16 Air Combat Command F-16 Viper Demonstration Team (55th FS) based at Shaw AFB, SC. The U.S. Air Force had planned to retire F-16 in 2025, replaced by the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II. Due to delays in the F-35 program, USAF F-16s will receive service life extension upgrades and continue operating for another two decades.
