Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk 85-0833 ‘Black Devil’ was unveiled in April 2022 at the museum’s new Jim Houston Pavilion. This combat veteran participated in numerous operations, including Operation Desert Storm and the Balkans as part of Operation Allied Force, where the aircraft served as the 49th Wing commander’s personal mount. First flown in 1981, the fleet of stealthy aircraft was retired in 2008. Sixty-four F-117s were built, 59 of which were production versions with the other five being demonstrators/prototypes. Though officially retired, F-117s have been seen flying on active duty.
