Produced from the early 1960s to the 1970s, the Lockheed JetStar was the first dedicated business jet to enter service. First flown in 1957, it was also one of the largest aircraft in the class for many years, seating ten plus two crew. The JetStar 731 was a modified version, fitted with four Garrett TFE731-1 turbofan engines, and equipped with redesigned external fuel tanks. The 731 mods let to the JetStar II which were produced from 1976 through 1979. The 731 JetStars and JetStar IIs had greatly increased range, reduced noise, and better runway performance compared to the original JetStars. This sharp- looking example is a recent addition to the collection at the The Aviation History & Technology Center in Marietta, located next door to the main Lockheed plant. Fuji X-Pro2 w/18-135mm.
