This F-5G was a photo-reconnaissance variant of the P-38 Lightning being exhibited by the Yanks Air Museum at Chino during the Planes of Fame airshow.  The photo versions of the classic Lightning were the lightest and fastest of the P-38s, having no armor or guns.  The first civilian owner purchased this P-38 in 1946 from the “War Assets Administrator” for only $1,200.  Lockheed modified 200 P-38J airframes in production to become unarmed F-5B photo-reconnaissance aircraft, while hundreds of other P-38Js and P-38Ls were field-modified to become F-5Es, F-5Fs, and F-5Gs.  Nikon D7100 w/18-200mm.
