@ Museo del Aire, Madrid , Spain
May 2014
This was taken during my first trip to Spain and the Museo del Aire. This facility has six exhibition galleries and over 150 aircraft on display, including this F-104G Starfighter. 18 Canadair-built F-104Gs and three Lockheed-built TF-104Gs were delivered to Spain’s Ejército del Aire in 1965. Spain was one of the few foreign operators of the aircraft with a perfect safety record. In 1972 these aircraft were replaced by McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantoms. This example performed tactical reconnaissance missions with the VICON underfuselage camera pod.
