Another image from a recent ISAP event in Texas. Passing thunderstorms provided me an opportunity to practice reflective compositions. The F-104 was the first aircraft to achieve sustained Mach 2 flight and the first to hold speed and altitude records simultaneously, as well as the first to reach 100,000 feet. Correspondingly, the MiG-21 was the first Soviet fighter capable of flying faster than twice the speed of sound. This F-104A (56-779) was delivered to the Air Force in January of 1958, this trainer variant of the MiG-21 was delivered in 1970 and served with the Polish Air Force. The MiG has been part of the Cavanaugh collection since 1993, a year before the F-104. Nikon D300 w/18-200mm, processed with Photomatix Pro and Aperture.
