The Blue Angels beloved support aircraft “Fat Albert” taxies in after a flight performance at the California International Airshow Salinas. In May 2019, after 17 years serving with the Blue Angels, “Fat Albert” was retired from flight status. The Blue Angels started using the C-130 in 1970, which was quickly named after the popular cartoon character. “Fat Albert” did not start wearing the Blues color scheme until their third C-130 in 1974. Delivered in 1992, this current airframe (164763) has been with the team since 2002, and was the last C-130 to conduct a jet-assisted take-off (JATO). There is discussion that “Fat Albert” could return in the future in the form of a C-130J aircraft. Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
