According to the news, the Corona Cabinet voted, not unanimously, on a full lockdown for two weeks. The lockdown will likely begin either Tuesday night-Wednesday or Friday. That will be finalized in the government vote on Sunday to approve (or not) the Corona Cabinet decision.
Furthermore, after the two week lockdown is over, the lockdown will be partially lifted - while things will open up, schools will remain closed for another two weeks.
I would note that two weeks after Rosh Hashana is Sukkos. School is out then anyway. The significant amount of school being missed is during the two weeks between Rosh Hashana and Sukkos, with days off for Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Shabbos anyway. After that is a week (plus) that schools were going to be out anyway. The week after Sukkos will also see schools closed, so that is a loss, but it seems the closing of schools at this time is as minimal as it can get.
Just please, if you are going to lock us down, do it properly and accomplish the goals. Don't make it a joke like every other lockdown since June. Make it worthwhile.
