Live Video from The Family Soul, “So Beautiful”

Out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada is the grand ensemble, The Family Soul, a new group that formed in 2017. Their debut album, On The Shoulders Of...Vol. 1, from this year, is full of snappy grooves, R&B licks and a lot of horn. The group simply started as a way to give Soul Brother Mike's songs more depth and instrumentation. Now The Family Soul is a full-fledged band and also features saxophonist Kelly Hoppe, trumpeter Austin DiPietro, singer-songwriter Crissi Cochrane and others.

"So Beautiful" arrives halfway through On The Shoulders Of... and is of the mellower tracks. Soul Brother Mike leads with a warm guitar and has a little back and forth with the sax and trumpet. They chitter-chat like old friends. The video is taken from The Family Soul's performance at The Bank Theatre in Leamington, Ontario in August of this year. On The Shoulders Of... Artist Biography

The Family Soul is a horn-fueled soul band from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The project began in 2017 as a backing band for the original music of band leader Soul Brother Mike. The group has since honed its unique sound, growing its repertoire to include a carefully curated selection of hidden gems found in the genres of blues, soul, and funk.

The group is comprised of many of Windsor's top musicians, from Soul Brother Mike (Michou, Walkervilles), to saxophonist Kelly Hoppe (Big Sugar), vocalist Crissi Cochrane (singer-songwriter), and a number of University and theatre trained musicians, including trumpeter Austin DiPietro (Coffee House Combo, Bishop Boys).

The Family Soul recorded a core part of their repertoire for newly released album "On The Shoulders Of... Vol. 1". This unique album of classic and modern soul music stems from the golden age of soul in the late 60s and early 70s, with newer R&B flavours from Kansas' Reggie B, and the UK's Lewis Taylor.
