Take a book, return a book. It's sweeping the world!
"Little Free Libraries" are just what they sound like: a volunteer movement to build these tiny "take a book, leave a book" structures around the world. The goal is to eventually build 2,510 of these little beauties - the same number of libraries Andrew Carnegie donated money to build through his Carnegie Foundation.

Winslow, AR's contribution to the Little Free Library movement.
Winslow’s first Little Free Library, built and hosted by John Ford, is at the corner of VanBuren Avenue and Bromley Lane. John is an avid cook and his library’s focus is on cookbooks and other books about food. Interested in a new recipe for a great chocolate dessert? A flavorful flan or a terrific tofu? Stop by and help yourself to part of his extensive cookbook collection. There is no charge. Take a book and enjoy it — then return it or keep it. Drop off one of your own! John has planted an herb garden around his library and plans to have scissors and plastic bags available so people can help themselves to some flavorful herbs.

But I love the idea of a free herb garden. John's kicked it up a notch. Yay, John! Let's hear it for the kindness of strangers. The world needs a few more John Fords.
