The Excise Department says that liquor shops across the island will be closed tomorrow (13 April) and the next day (14April) for the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
In addition, the department further states that a special operation is underway to conduct raids related to the sale of illegal liquor.This special operation will be in place till 31 April 2023.
People can provide information regarding excise offences (illegal trade etc) to 1913 hotline.
