Trifecta: Saw-themed video games are being made for the web by Lionsgate, Tom Brady’s NFT platform Autograph, and Twisted Pictures.
As part of the digital assets initiative, three online games based on the Saw horror movie franchise from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures will come out in time for Halloween. Those who “survive” all three games have a chance to win a variety of prizes, such as unique Saw non-fungible tokens and collectible digital assets.
This year, Lionsgate and Autograph made a deal to make NFTs based on popular movie franchises like The Hunger Games, Mad Men, John Wick, and Dirty Dancing. Now, they’re offering to do the same thing with the Saw games.
The next movie in the horror franchise will come out in theaters on October 27, 2023. It will be made by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures.
Jenefer Brown, executive vice president and head of global products and experiences for Lionsgate, said in a statement that the company has been working with Autograph for the past year to create gamified NFTs for Saw fans.
The market for NFTs is growing, which makes them a good way for the entertainment industry to make money. Fox Corp. is putting $100 million from its Creator Fund into its Blockchain Creative Labs. At the same time, Endeavor is getting more familiar with the market through its UFC division and the Frieze art fair.
The Lionsgate agreement shows the potential of NFTs for IP holders, who can turn their existing IP into NFTs by partnering with technology platforms like Autograph.
