Trying out new game is always fun, isn’t it? So when I heard about the two new games by LINE Corporation, the makers of popular LINE free calls and messaging app, of course I had to try them out. And when I try some new techno treat, of course I want to write about it here.
So, the two new games by LINE Corporation are LINE Pop 2 and LINE Sweets. Pop 2 is the next version of Line Pop which has enjoyed much popularity. I personally enjoy playing LINE Pop too.
LINE Pop, Pop 2 and Sweets are quite similar in game play. In all the games, the users have to line up three or more sweets and overcome the objectives of every level. There are differences too, of course. For example, in LINE Pop 2, the sweets can also be moved diagonally. But on the whole, I didn’t feel that there was much new or unique in the games. There are already scores of similar games available for devices of various operating systems. And I don’t suppose there’s any user of Facbook at the moment who hasn’t been invited to play one of the most popular of these ‘line them up’ games.
In LINE Pop 2 and Sweet, you have to line up three or more sweets to get points. You also have to fulfill the objective of every level and gather up the bonus points to score more. Both the games are sweet to play, thanks to cute LINE characters and sound and visual effects. In LINE Sweet, the LINE characters move above the game screen offering rewards and bonuses every now and then. And if you manage to feed them with the sweet they are desiring, they give you rewards. Playing the game is fun, but overcoming the objectives isn’t quite so easy. Not for me, at least. But then, I confess that I’m not much of a gamer. My teenage niece and nephew might perform better at the game perhaps but I have not been able to go beyond level 4.
As for LINE Pop 2, well, I can’t say much about it as I was able to play it only twice. The game just refused to connect to the server after that. I was testing the games on a brand new smartphone that has 3 GB RAM and an Octa Core processor. So it can’t be that my phone lacked in resources to support the game.
The thing about LINE games is that they can’t be played in an offline mode. They must connect with the server and the player must be registered on LINE and logged in to play the LINE games. I do wish these games had the option of offline play as well. And I also wish LINE would soon bring out games that offer a fresh and unique game play. Something new and fresh, combined with cute LINE characters, would indeed be a delight to play.
