There was a time when phone messaging meant only SMS, and that meant spending money. Not any more. With the advent of smartphones, the free messaging apps have made it easier and cheaper to send and receive messages. Not just text messages but also cool stickers, images and audio and video messages can be passed on without costing any money.
However, most of these free messaging apps are quite heavy. And if the user has a phone with less internal storage, using these apps can be a problem.
In answer to this problem, LINE Corporation has recently launched LINE Lite. As the name suggests, it is the lighter version of their very popular LINE Free Calls and Messaging App. LINE Lite is less than 1 MB in size. That means even users whose devices have very limited internal storage can install it. And as it is light, its installation would consume very little data.
Using this lighter version of LINE free messaging app, users can easily pass on messages, photos and stickers to their contacts. But the features like audio and video calls and LINE Timeline are not included in this lighter version. The users of normal LINE messaging app can also use this app with their existing LINE account.
In the first phase, LINE Lite has been launched in 11 countries. These include India, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. The app will be launched in more countries soon.
LINE Lite is free and available only for Android device.
