Rescued dogs and cats can be teachers’pets when LifeLine waives all adoption fees in June for teachers and school administrators in Georgia.
ATLANTA, GA – (May 23, 2012) LifeLine Animal Project in Avondale Estates wants to spend some of the dog days of summer honoring the teaching profession.
To express appreciation for educators in Georgia, from pre-K to post-grad, the 10-year-old Atlanta non-profit is waiving its standard $80-$120 pet adoption fees for teachers throughout the month of June and allowing them to adopt a pet for free.
“Teachers are a vital part of the well-being of our communities,” says Rebecca Guinn, founder and executive director of LifeLine. “They deserve recognition and appreciation. We hope that any faculty or school staff planning to add a pet to their family this summer will consider adopting from our Dog House or Kitty Motel. We invite them to become part of our own extended adoptive community.”
LifeLine has participated in after-school enrichment programming in Atlantawith the organization “Create Your Dreams” and has also visited classrooms in the metro area to teach students about pet care and wellness.
Rebecca Guinn was recently honored by DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis for a decade of work in animal advocacy and rescue when May 17, 2012 was proclaimed “Rebecca Guinn Day” in DeKalb.
All adoptable dogs and cats at LifeLine are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered and micro-chipped. Many dogs in LifeLine’s no-kill Dog House have also had some obedience training.
All potential pet parents must meet LifeLine’s standard criteria for adopting a pet and must fill out an application, either online through LifeLine’s “Virtual Shelter” atwww.LifeLineAnimal.org, or in person at their Avondale location at 129 Lake Street.
LifeLine has offered fee-waived adoptions before, for Girl Scouts when the scouts celebrated their 100th anniversary. They also offer no-fee dog and cat adoptions all year for veterans of military service as part of their “Pets for Vets” program.
