Life of the Party is a comedy following a middle-aged mom that finds her life turned upside down. She goes through part of a mid-life crisis returning to college after her sudden divorce. This sees her enjoying her life again, however, she gets too close to her daughter’s college experience.

The movie gets to make the most of a mid-life crisis by having Deanna return to college. It shows us how life can give you new opportunities out of nowhere. This gets the laughs needed to even if some are more over-the-top than needed. It has important messages about finding their place in the world and accepting support from the strangest places.

When it comes to performances, Melissa McCarthy gives one of her better ones on the more serious side and lighter comedy times. Even if she does need to go for the unrealistic dumb comedy levels at times. The supporting cast is good too, getting plenty of laughs along the way.

Final Thoughts Life of the Party is an enjoyable comedy.
