Life Goals: Is It Time You Made A Bucket List?

By Robin Salvador @vinzsalvador23

Every so often, things happen that make you take stock and think about the future. It could be friends getting married or having a baby. It may be somebody close to you suffering from illness or reaching a landmark birthday. It might even be social media contacts posting endless photos of incredible trips. At some point, the realization that time doesn't stand still hits us all. If you're keen to seize the day and create your own bucket list, here are some suggestions.

Travel the world or live abroad

Travelling is one of those things that continually educates and inspires us. Visiting other countries opens us up to new experiences and creates treasured memories. If you haven't got the travel bug yet, you'll soon see why people become addicted once you embark on foreign adventures. Add a round the world trip to your bucket list, or spend some time living in a different country. You could relocate with work, take a sabbatical or get a job out there. If you're planning to live and work outside of Europe, you'll need a visa. Are you travelling to Canada, for example? If so, it's beneficial to research the Canadian travel screening process and apply for your visa online.

If you're eager to travel extensively, look into multi-stop tickets. These offer much better value than single trips, and they're more flexible. Don't forget to check your passport before you book.

See the Northern Lights

If you did a global survey, seeing the Northern Lights would probably be one of the most popular bucket list entries. This natural phenomenon is visible close to the poles, and every light show is unique. If you're lucky to spot them, you'll see flashes and curves of coloured lights darting across the night skies. Head to Finland, Iceland or Sweden for the best opportunities.

Take on a challenge and try new things

It's always good to challenge yourself. It gives you drive and determination and makes you push yourself physically and mentally. There are all kinds of things you could do. Cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats or swim the English Channel. Learn a new language or try and overcome a phobia. Take cooking lessons or run a marathon.

Buy a house

Many of us long to be homeowners. It's tough in this day and age to get your foot on the property ladder, but if you want something enough, you'll get there. Look into savings schemes, which could help, and try and set aside money each month. Don't put yourself under pressure with targets. Not everyone will own their home by the time they're 30 or even 40 years old. If you don't, you're not a failure. You'll get there eventually, so don't give up!

Take up new hobbies, or experience life in a different country. Change job if you're unhappy or go back to college. Save up for something you've always wanted.
