Libra – The Set of the Sails

By Luphil

I was pondering on the next image of Libra and reading in the book “Spiritual Personality Development” by Master EK. I came across a quote from the poem “The Winds of Fate” by the American poetess Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850 – 1919) written at the age of 15. It says,

“One ship sails East, And another West, By the self-same winds that blow, ‘Tis the set of the sails And not the gales, That tells the way we go.” It further goes on, “‘Tis the set of the soul that decides its goal And not the calm or the strife.”

Master EK explains that the angle of the sail we set is called reasoning (thinking logically and not as an emotional reaction). And as wind is more universal than our ship, the direction of creation and the planetary evolution are greater and more universal than our likes and dislikes. Once we align ourselves with the purpose of evolution, our likes and dislikes come into harmony with the universal direction of our nature.

Libra guides the path of choices. Right choices and right adjustments are to be made with responsibility, aligning ourselves with the greater purpose. It is the set of the sails.

I designed the image with photos of an Indian boat, a coastline in Scotland and sunrays shining through clouds in South Germany. The rays are like signs for elevating ourselves and the rocks indicate possible obstacles on the way. We steer our boat and set the sails as per the purpose we pursue.
