Remember the opening scene from the original Iron Man when Tony Stark's convoy is ambushed and the eccentric billionaire whipped out a phone that pivotable openly to call for help? The year was 2008 and that was a LG VX9400, one of the company's previous forays into phones that spin to open instead of spinning.
We may get a sequel. On Wednesday, LG unveiled a new mobile initiative called the Explorer Project, which aims to bring devices to market that "offer distinctive and as yet unexplored usability experiences". The company also released a promo video embedded below that appears to be teasing a new swivel handset, with the promise that more will be released on September 14th.
The announcement comes just days after tech site Android Authority posted a video of a phone called the LG Wing that features a secondary screen that "swivels" open.
