When it comes to microwave cooking, most people in India still use it primarily to warm up the leftovers. However, by their popular cooking contest Mallika-E-Kitchen, LG is trying to prove that there's more to microwave than just heating. Seven successful seasons of this TV show have been completed. Today, on 23rd December 2015, LG celebrated the final episode and the award winning ceremony of the seventh season of Mallika-E-Kitchen.

The journey that started with about 6000 participants selected from 100 Indian cities ended in a grand event where the 12 finalists competed against each other to win the title of Mallika-E-Kitchen. All contestants showed their culinary skills by cooking various delightful dishes using only Microwave. The dishes included Fish Biryani, Mughlai Jadoo, Jain Royal Healthy Meal etc. It was delightful to witness the contestants racing against time to prove their merit and the powers of LG microwave.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Rajeev Jain, Vice President, Home Appliance, LG Electronics India (P) Ltd, said, "It is amazing to see the talent that exists in India and with participation touching 6000 amateur chefs, the 2015 edition of LG's Mallika-E-Kitchen cooking contest has been immensely successful. This competition has yet again proved that versatile as well as healthy cooking can be done using microwave oven. The numbers prove that consumers support and appreciate LG's endeavor to promote healthy cooking talent in India. This contest gives us an opportunity to directly reach out to consumers and get feedback and suggestions for future innovations." Considering the extremely low penetration of 1% for microwave oven, this is an excellent platform to reach out to the consumers."

Mallika-E-Kitchen 2015 contest has been won by Ms Ruby Saha from Kolkata for her recipe of Soloana Bengali Bhuri Bhoj. And as her prize, she was presented with LG Side by Side refrigerator. The first runner up is Ms Mansi Hinge from Nagpur and the second runner up is Ms Rajshree Chakroborty from Guwahati. They won LG Front Loading Washing Machine and LG True Water Purifier.

Talking about her exciting victory, Ms Ruby Saha, the Mallika-E-Kitchen 2015 said, "I am thrilled to have won the prestigious title of LG Mallika-E-Kitchen 2015. I've always enjoyed experimenting with food and this contest gave me a national platform to showcase my talent, appreciating my passion for food. This award has given me an opportunity to take my culinary journey to the next level. I am grateful that LG has thought about us and given Indian women this amazing opportunity to prove how innovative they can be when they are really passionate about cooking healthy and tasty food for their loved ones."

It was an exciting event that began with the thrill and nervousness of the contestant and ended with grand celebration of the three Malliakas. The event showcased how it is possible to cook almost any recipe using microwave. At the event, one contestant Ms Preeti Asmar from Mumbai commented, "I think microwave can be used to cook almost all Indian recipes. Except roti and the Marathi Bhakri, maybe. I do wish even that would be possible soon."

Well, by the way technology is progressing, I'm pretty sure her wish might come true soon too.
