LG Nexus 5X Now Available in India

If you are fan of Google Nexus smartphones, than this news would delight you. Today, on 13 th October, 2015, LG has unveiled their third Nexus device. It is LG Nexus 5X and it is one of the first devices to have Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

Commenting on the launch of Nexus 5X, Mr Kim Ki-Wan, Managing Director, LG India, said, "The part-nership between LG and Google goes way back to the time when we launched our first Nexus device together, LG Nexus 4 followed by the LG Nexus 5. Today, as we announce the third Nexus smartphone from LG, the Nexus 5X, along with Google, we can say with pride that we complement each other's strengths and the Nexus 5X will reflect the mutual trust and respect the two companies have for each other."

Nexus 5X, result of yet another collaboration between LG and Google, is available in two memory variants. These are 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants. Nexus 5X has 5.2-inch 423ppi Full HD IPS display. The display has In-Cell Touch technology that helps in faster recognition and better outdoor visibility. The smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Processor and 2GB RAM. When one considers that we now have smartphones with 4GB RAM, the 2GB RAM sounds kind of disappointing. However, it should suffice in giving a stable performance. LG Nexus 5X has 2,700mAh (embedded) battery with fast charging through its Type-C USB port. The C USB port will make normal USB cables useless but users may still like it as it makes the phone's charger reversible. That is, no need to check which side is up while inserting the charger in the phone. The device can get charged for use of upto 4 hours in just 10 minutes.

As for Camera, LG Nexus 5X has 12.3MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Google assures that the camera has been much improved since previous Nexus phones and has been designed to give high-quality images and 4K videos and high quality Slow Motion videos. The rear camera has 1.55µm sensor and the front camera has 1.4µm sensor which help in capturing better images in low light.

One of the most interesting features of LG Nexus 5X is the fingerprint sensor at its back. It is called Nexus Imprint. It is placed at a very convenient spot at the back. It can unlock the Nexus 5X in less than 600 milliseconds. It keeps the phone secure and also helps in secure payments on Android Pay etc.

LG Nexus 5X is now available on Google Store and LG's retail outlets across India. The 16GB storage variant is priced at Rs 31,990 and the 32GB variant is priced at Rs 35,990.

The price of Nexus 5X might appear to be a little high considering the specifications. Also, it is a pity that the Nexus phone does not support memory cards so the internal storage can't be expanded. And as far as I know, there's no FM radio in it. But the device brings with it the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and gives pure Android experience. And being a Google phone, it is likely to get the next Android update earlier than other phones. That alone is enough to make this device an attractive option. The Nexus Imprint at the back is an interesting feature. Overall, Nexus 5X looks like a nice phone. It would be interesting to see how it fares against the rising competition of Indian market.
