On 22 Feb, 2017, LG launched the new version of LG K10. Interestingly, this new device does not bear any new name. LG is just calling it LG K10 2017. This new K10 is being termed as a ' Dhaakad smartphone ' to highlight the 112 Panic Button feature that has been added into it. This Panic Button feature is in accordance with the recommendation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

The launch of LG K10 2017 was graced by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister, Communications and IT, Government of India and Mr Pankaj Mahindroo, Founder and National President, Indian Cellular Association. Talking about the device, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "We are consistently working on initiatives to create a safe & conducive environment for citizens of the country through technological excellence. The panic button, 112, is a great initiative and we must applaud efforts of LG Electronics who is developing technology for the betterment of the society. I would also like to congratulate LG for completing 2 decades in India."

Specifications:

LG K10 2017 is a mid-range smartphone. It has 5.3-inch HD In-cell Touch Display with 2.5 D curved glass. It is equipped with 1.5 GHz Octa-Core processor and has 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. The internal storage is expandable using the microSD card upto 2TB. The phone is powered by 2,800mAh (removable) battery and has Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. It supports 4G VoLTE and OTG

Camera:

The new LG K10 has 13 MP rear camera with 1/3″ sensor and an F2.2 lens. It has 5 MP front camera with 120-degree wide angle selfie lens. The camera modes include Auto Shot which recognizes faces and automatically clicks photos. Camera features include Quick Share which allows the user to share photo or video from the Preview screen.

Panic Button:

The major highlight of K10 2017 is its Panic Button. the phone features a '112 emergency number' set up in the form of this panic button. This feature is in keeping with the recommendation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). It can be used to send quick alerts in case of an emergency. It can be triggered by the pre-defined presses of the Power Button.

Fingerprint Scanner:

LG K10 2017 has a finger print scanner that adds to the security of the device. Its Quick Shutter and Quick Capture features help in clicking pictures more easily using the finger print sensor.

Appearance:

The metallic frame of LG K10 2017 has a curved elemental design. It also has a distinct side character line which looks quite nice. It is 7.9mm thick and has 2.5D Arc Glass design. It is available in Black, Titan and Gold colours. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back, under the camera lens. Over all, the device looks quite sturdy.

Price of LG K10 (2017):

LG K10 (2017) is priced at Rs.15000. At this price, it has many competitors and is going to face a tough battle, A price lower by a couple of thousand rupees would have sounded better, considering its specification set. At Rs. 15000, it is going to face a tough battle, despite the quality assurance that comes with the LG brand name.
