Televisions are definitely no longer idiot box, but they still have the power to turn people into couch potatoes. In fact, with the sort of awesome televisions that are now being launched, the couch-potato creating power of TV would rather increase than decrease. Really, the visual quality of the new and premium televisions being launched today is such that it is much too hard to pull your eyes away from the screen.

Taking a step forward in this line, LG today unveiled the 4K OLED television that combines OLED self-lighting pixel technology with resolution of Ultra HD 4K. This is supposed to be industry's first combination of 4K Ultra High Definition with OLED display. These TV sets boast of delivering perfect black, thereby enhancing the colours as well. These brand new televisions use LG's proprietary WRGB technology and deliver upto 33 million color sub-pixels. This is about 27 million more than average Full HD display. These televisions use the four color pixel technology. This adds a white sub-pixel to the conventional red, green and blue pixels and helps in delivering superior picture quality. The contrast is enhanced by independently lit pixels that can control their own luminance.

Commenting upon the launch of these 4K OLED TVs, Mr. Howard Lee, Director-Home Entertainment, LG India said, "Once again LG has proved that it is a frontrunner when it comes to innovative technology. With the LG 4K OLED TV, we promise consumers in India the ultimate immersive cinematic experience. Time and again we have initiated groundbreaking innovation and raised the bar not only for ourselves, but for the industry as well. This latest OLED TV underscores LG's commitment to bringing the best in home entertainment to our consumers."

Not just superior display quality, these OLED televisions boast of having a response time of 0.001ms which is more than 1000 times faster than conventional LCD TVs. Other features include a blur free clarity and 3D capability. As for the sound, the TVs are equipped with sound technology developed in partnership with Harman/Kardon. The voice output is enhanced by LG's ULTRA Surround System.

These televisions have LG's proprietary webOS Smart TV platform which promises to deliver a simpler and more intuitive user interface. However, it being a smart TV, one can expect a bit of a learning curve to familiarize oneself with all its smart features. Users can navigate between the Live TV and smart features using the launcher menu and Home button. Users can also easily connect their smartphone with these TV sets to view the videos and photos in their phones on larger and brighter display.

As for looks, the 4K OLED televisions are really a beauty. They have slim profile with simple and minimal aesthetic.
