Set on the Saturday of Fashion Week in the Royal Courts of Justice, it couldn't of been a betteror more fitting venue for Julien Macdoanld. Ozzing utter glam with high ceilings and stunning architecture the venue was absolutely perfect.
I was lucky enough to be granted backstage access before the show, so I got to see the run through and all the buzz behind the scenes. The team were extrememly dedicated but focusing positively on their tasks to get the models ready, it was so exciting to watch as Julien and his crew work their magic with the girls. Beginning the evening with martini cocktails and hobnobbing with Julien's friends, family and celebrity pals, the night was kicking off to a good start. It was Mother Macdonald's 80th birthday, so of course I had to go and say happy birthday - she looked to be having a wonderful time.I had the pleasure of meeting one of the fellow designers from Julien Macdonalds Star label and the marketing manager at Debenhams, they were so friendly and excited I was there wearing one of the jumpsuits from their range. Backstage I'd spotted the various items for the catwalk but packed safely in clear clohing bags, I don't think I had any idea of how spectacular they would be on the runway. Beading, sequins, lace, gems and just about every word you can imagine relating to being a glamourous woman. I had major clothing envy and each piece was truly spectacular in it's own way. The clothes were mainly soft wintery shades in silvers, golds and nudes but some with sparkly fabrics and sheer meshing. There was also a few splashes of color with navy, red and berry, with a healthy a range of shorter dresses and floor length pieces. Each garment showed off the female silhouette which is something Julien has always encouraged to get across...women should feel gorgeous and sexy. The entire from start to finish was just epic, from the clothes to the venue to the ambiance amongst those watching. I was a quite blessed because after the show I got to meet Julien himself. I was meant to interview him but as you can imagine he was rather busy, so I settled for a quick snap for my readers... he was thrilled I'd actually worn some of his Star collection from Debenhams. All I'll say is he was so down to earth and an absolute legend... I already loved his work and now I think I possibily love it/him all the more. xoxo
