Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported late Sunday evening that the LFP approached the Office of Anticorruption Attorney’s Office with accusations of possible match-fixing within Spanish football. Cadena SER also mentions that there is a possibility that players could be involved in this match-fixing scandal.
Radio host Jose Ramón de la Morena made this knowledge public on his Madrid-based radio show El Larguero (The Crossbar) and it soon exploded across the internet and via social media.
This was the beginning of the show where he reports as well as mentions this news and an update on the Monday edition of the show with further details on this story. (Audio is in Spanish)
There are reports of two matches having certain irregularities in this season in La Liga. There were certain inconsistencies in these matches that have forced both the Spanish league as wel as UEFA to start to investigate further into this matter. There is still a great deal of speculation regarding the matches that were the one that caught the attention of these aformentioned football authorities; but the ghosts of Calciopoli and other scandals involving match fixing have really shocked the Spanish football environment in the past hours.
On Monday, the office of the LFP is scheduled to release a statement on this matter.
