Nintendo’s toys-to-life figures Amiibo work with lots of different games, and Andy from Family Gamer TV has been looking at what happens when you use different Amiibos in Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. Watch this new video to see how he and his family got on with their new toys.
First up is Super Smash Bros., and in this game an Amiibo works as a helper character. Instead of working like Skylanders where you play as the character that you put on the Portal of Power, the Amiibo you put on the Wii U Gamepad will come into battle to help the character you are playing as. So you could play as Samus and have Mario come in to team-up with you. As you play, your Amiibo character will level up and become stronger and more useful. The may become so strong that they could even win tournaments!
In Mario Kart 8 things are very different. Each Amiibo unlocks a special costume for your racer to wear. So if you put down Link on the Wii U Gamepad, you’ll unlock a cool Zelda-themed costume with a Tri-Force helmet.
We can’t wait to see what each different Amiibo does in all the games they can be used in. At the moment there’s only Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8 that use Amiibo figures, but next year there will be lots more Nintendo games with Amiibo features.
