Stalking The Strand with camera and pen, David Tucker presents a few new angles on one of London's most famous thoroughfares…
Where
the Wild Things Are
You know “wood” in Elizabethan times had a
secondary meaning. A secondary meaning that’s since sloughed off.
It meant what it means today. But it also
could mean “mad”, “crazed”.
“And here am I, wood within this wood” as
Demetrius says in A Midsummer Night’s
Dream.
Well, you see something like this down the
Strand – something that gets your brain buzzing – and you really have to
wonder, “am I in the wood too?”
Finally, you just have to accept it – and
delight in it.
“Well, I’m down the Strand – I’m where the
wild things are. That’s deep in the wood. Me and them. But so what – let’s go
with the flow – let it bee what it’s gonna bee.”
