Lesson 1148 – Swelling with Pride

By Wendythomas @wendyenthomas

Election Day in New Hampshire is a like a giant one day Olympic competition culminating from months and months (and in some cases years) of pre-training. It all comes down to an approximate 12 hour window when people go to the polls to place their votes.

Yesterday I was out covering a few polling sites for Reuters, collecting vote information, but in my town, I want to let you know that the tall guy in the green coat -

was running for a State Representative seat. He was outside all day doing what’s called visibility. He shook hands, he waved and smiled at people in our town. And this was after months of canvassing where he went door to door introducing himself and letting people know what he would be able to bring to the table. He worked his campaign well and talked to many.

Later in evening after the polls closed, when he was home watching the election results come in with his Dad, he found out that he had lost. Every candidate on his party ticket had lost.

It stings.

But the first thing out of his mouth was “that’s not the last time you’ll see my name on the ballot.”

Sometimes, this mama hen swells with so much pride that she’s afraid she might burst.
