Getting young chicks to take a nap always took some of my best negotiation skills. When told that it was nap time, the first thing out of their mouths was always “But MOOOOM, I’m not tired!”
To which I always replied, “You don’t have to take a nap, you just need to rest your eyes.”
They’d usually agree to at least try with the predicted follow up of “I’m not tired. I’m going to stay awake, you’ll see.”
“No worries,” I’d assure them, “you don’t have to sleep, you just need to go to your room, be quiet, and give those beautiful eyes of yours a little rest.”
It worked every time.
