“A Belfast woman has failed in a final attempt to spare the life of her pit bull terrier-type dog.”

UPDATE:

Lennox is scheduled to DIE on Monday or Tuesday, July 9 or 10, 2012.

WORLDWIDE protests…

Victoria Stilwell, Jeff Coltenback, Cesar Millan and even the Italian ministers have offered HOMES for Lennox… at their OWN Expense… NO response yet… Awaiting Victoria Stilwell’s message since she is in Belfast meeting with the family and the Belfast City Council.

Lennox Update : Lennox’s situation is dire and as I type this the Belfast Government is planning on their next steps in murdering Lennox although I think they refer to it as “Putting Lennox to Sleep” or (PTS) Actually putting an animal or child to sleep means turning out the lights, kissing them on the head and tucking them in nice and snug. PTS in this case will mean murdering an innocent pup who just because of his looks and possible breed was put in this unbelievable situation. Work is ongoing behind the scenes to yank Lennox out of that confinement…….Please do not give up hope and continue to pray. Capt

This entire situation shows exactly how ignorant and uncaring some people really are. Legal decisions being made by people like these Judges in Belfast are why people are so disgusted by the Legal System. To assume an animal is a “danger” simply because of its breed is pathetic, unjustified and cowardly. I can assure you all that Lennox and his story to survive will not be in vain and that as we move forward and I continue to speak out against Breed Specific Legislation Lennox and his memory will be with me. am going to barf, did not know about some of this… not allowing Lennox to see a vet, making him lie in his own feces and not allowing the family a final visit… this is CRUEL and UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT, and Lennox ONLY crime is looking like a pit bull, not even being one, not being a dangerous dog… these people make me SICK…I thought that I thought the worst but this is worse than what I thought…

Lennox, an American Bull dog Labrador cross, NOT a pit bull, not a terrier, the poster boy of an INNOCENT dog… unfortunately what I originally wrote a couple of weeks ago was prophetic… sinking feeling that it was going to be true… a few things I do not understand, one report says Ms Barnes was not in court. If so, is she ill or ????  am concerned about the family now.

Lennox: ignorance reigns in Ireland

How many innocent dogs have to die because of fear mongering and ignorance?

Does Lennox fit any of the criteria for a dangerous dog set forth in the Pit Bull Placebo by Karen Delise?

uh no…but he supposedly LOOKS like a pit bull, that is his ONLY crime, the Judges say he looks like a pit bull therefore, he must die

he is not intact, he is neutered

not been chained up, he IS a beloved socialized therapy and family dog

not a guard dog

not an abused nor neglected dog

not a starved dog

not an unsupervised dog

never shown any sign of aggression

Lennox is NOT NOT NOT a dangerous dog yet he has been sentenced to die in Belfast, Ireland

This is a travesty, a disgrace and unconscionable

there are no incidents to date of a spayed/neutered indoor family pit bull ever having killed anyone.

…[S]ince 1975, dogs belonging to more than 30 breeds have been responsible for fatal attacks on people, including Dachshunds, a Yorkshire Terrier, and a Labrador Retriever.” (It’s also key to point out that you are more likely to be killed by lightening than a dog, and dog bites are at historic lows.)

Lennox: ignorance reigns in Ireland

What kind of message does this send to the world?  You can be persecuted and put to death because of  the way you look… Beyond sad and mad. These people need to answer to a Higher Authority.

For Lennox, his long ordeal and suffering will finally be over… may he feel the grass under his paws as in the photo above, the air in his fur and be able to run free… doesn’t mean this was right by any means. For these people to abuse a dog in the name of fear mongering hysteria and discriminate against the disabled and their service dogs is a TRAVESTY.

Victoria Stilwell ~~ “Devastating and unjust. The dregs of humanity. Evidence from highly skilled dog behaviorists rejected and the evidence from a police dog handler was upheld. Shame on BSL (breed specific legislation) and shame on those for demonizing particular breed types. I can tell you now that because of unqualified people who fear certain dogs, BSL will spread to other breeds, but ignorance will never win because we will continue to fight. Thoughts for Lennox’s family and for Lennox. You poor, poor boy, trapped in the middle of this horror all because of human ignorance.”

On the 19th May 2010, Lennox, a five year old American Bull dog Labrador cross was wrongfully seized by Belfast City Council Dog Wardens from his loving family home where he lived with his owners and his kennel mates. Lennox committed no crime nor did any member of the public complain about him. Three Belfast City Council Dog Wardens came with the PSNI to his home unannounced. The Dog Wardens then told the Police to leave as there was no need for them at the location. The Belfast City Council Dog Wardens had tea with his owners, smoked cigarettes, chatted, played with the other family dogs after which the Dog Wardens then measured Lennox’s muzzle and rear legs with a dress maker’s tape measure and decided on those measurements without seeking any professional advice that he was a possible “Pit Bull Type Breed” and so he was led from his home to be put to death by the Council.

Northern Ireland has yet to fully implement the same dog legislation as mainland UK; if Northern Ireland were to complete the dog legislation here then Lennox would now be at home with his family and they would not now be facing legal prosecution. The USPCA said the law in Northern Ireland could be changed simply and rather quickly by an order in Council.
