Leila Restaurant: An Arrogantly Rude Waiter!

I am going to share something here, quick and straight to the point. I am honestly very angry and actually feel completely offended as a customer at Leila. Why?

I was having lunch with my family this sunny Saturday at Leila restaurant at ABC Dbayeh. The place was packed and obviously Leila needs no advertising… We know that. But no matter who you are – you must remember that it’s the customer that makes or breaks a place. Lunch was fine, all was going well up until dessert time.

I ordered their Ghazel Beirut. I love this dessert so much that I wanted to take a picture of it and share it with my friends on Instagram and Facebook. I was taking the image, as the waiter stormed to our table shouting: “No pictures allowed.”

What? Are you serious… I told him, “But this is something personal and I want to share it with my friends… besides this is free publicity…”

He looked at me and rudely said, “I am not joking. No pictures allowed. Leila doesn’t need the extra advertisement as you can see…”

My mood flipped automatically.  How arrogantly rude is this waiter?  Everyone at the table was silent for a few minutes… Shocked at the rudeness and high voice level of the waiter.

Whatever your reasons are dear Leila, there’s a minimum way to talk to your customers. Food is not the only thing that makes one want to come visit your restaurant…

Please get with the times, I was not on any mission to steal your precious Ghazel Beirut recipe. I was merely taking an image to share with my friends on social media. We all know today, most people have smart phones, most people have Facebook accounts, Instagram accounts, Twitter and so on. Taking images of where we are, what we are doing, eating, looking at… has become part of our daily lives.
