It was in the works, and now it’s official! Despite Leicester’s precarious position in 19th place in the Premier League, the Foxes’ management has decided to appoint Dean Smith as the head coach of the first team until the end of the current season.
“The former manager of Norwich City, Aston Villa, and Brentford will take charge of the first team’s training starting on Tuesday, in preparation for the away match against Manchester City on Saturday,” the English club announced in a statement on its website.
As previously agreed, Dean Smith will be supported by Craig Shakespeare and John Terry in his mission to save the Foxes from possible relegation to the Championship.
Craig Shakespeare, who was previously an assistant to Nigel Pearson and Claudio Ranieri during his previous stints at Leicester, has also previously managed the club in 2017, successfully avoiding relegation and leading the Foxes to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
On the other hand, John Terry has previously worked with Dean Smith at Aston Villa. The baptism of fire will be intense as Leicester will face Manchester City again this Saturday in the Premier League.
