LEGO Robot Solves Rubik’s Cube in World Record Time

By Boxmash

Ever tried to solve a Rubik’s Cube? Tough, aren’t they? Well, the Cubestormer 3 robot we told you about last week has smashed the world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube puzzle in just 3.253 seconds! You can see it in action here:

The Cubestormer 3 robot has four tiny LEGO arms that spun around the Rubik’s cube to solve it! What’s so cool is that this robot is made entirely out of LEGO pieces, and is controlled using just a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, both things you could find at home! Sounds easy, right? Seeing as Cubestormer 3 took a total of 18 months to design in Cambridge by its inventors David Gilday and Mike Dobson, maybe it’s not something we can do at home just yet.

And what’s next for the team that made Cubestormer 3? “Our big challenge now is working out if it’s possible to make it go even faster.” Now that’s something to look forward to.
