The candidates for president in Mexico are (from left to right) Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador [MORENO], Jose Antonio Meade [PRI], Ricardo Anaya [PAN], and Margarita Zavala [Independent].
It's about three months until Mexico goes to the polls and chooses a new president (on July 1st). Right now, the candidate of the left, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has a substantial (and growing) 18 point lead in in polling. Lopez Obrador kicked off his campaign by demanding respect for Mexico from Donald Trump.
Lopez Obrador is not anti-American -- none of Mexico's candidates are. But he is the least likely to bend to the will of the American government. And Trump can blame himself for the likelihood that the leftist could win this time. The Mexican people know about all the bad things Trump has said about them and their country, and they don't like it at all.
The Reuters Poll was done between March 23rd and 28th of 800 Mexican voters, and has a margin of error of 3.5 points.
