Cinese entertainment conglomerate LeEco after launching a slew of smartphones, is now eying big on Indian TV market. The tech giant launched its LeTV Super 3 range of smart television sets in India, which essentially consists of three smart TVs that range from 55 to 65-inch screen size.
These include the Super 3 X55, Super 3 X65 and the 'flagship' X65 Max. While the Super 3 Max65 is the flagship model and has been priced at Rs 1,49,790, the Super3 X65 and Super3 X55 are priced at Rs 99,790 and Rs 59,790 respectively.
The TVs are designed to offer the flagship class multimedia experience at a fraction of cost compared to what other known brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, etc are offering. Like most flagship LED televisions, Le TVs run on Android and let you access popular apps such as YouTube, Facebook, Firefox, etc. on big screen.
I got the chance to review the Super3 X-65, which is a massive 4K LED TV designed to offer a cinematic experience in your living room. Let's find out more about it in the following review.
Design- Massive and Elegant
The first thing you will notice about the X-65 is its massive size. The 65-inch TV is no less than an in-house 70-mm screen, which can simply change the way you consume multimedia content at home. The massive LED TV has a super-slim profile and comes in an all-metal body, which gives it an elegant look. The back side is built of polycarbonate and seems quite durable. No matter where you keep it, the TV is definitely going to be the centre of attraction of the space.
There's a bulge at the bottom where all the necessary ports are positioned, which includes a long list comprising of 1 SD card port, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2,0, 2 HDMI 2.0, 1 component input port, 1 VGA port, 1 PC audio line in, 1 Ethernet, 1 audio out, 3 AV input and1 RF input. The HDMI ports are MHL compatible so you can easily connect your smartphone and tablet to the big screen. Besides, the TV is also equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi, which allows you to connect it to a home network and stream content wirelessly.
Another talked about feature of the TV is the wave styled stand built of aluminium alloy that looks quite appealing.
Hardware
LeEco Super3 X- 65 is powered by a 32-bit Cortex A-17 1.4 GHz CPU, with a Mali T-760 GPU taking care of graphics department. The TV comes with 16 GB of inbuilt memory and there's 3 GB of RAM.
The combination is more than enough to give you a smooth multimedia experience on a big screen without any performance issues.
Display- The door to cinematic experience at home
The highlight of the TV is certainly its humongous 65-inch Ultra 4K LED panel. The LED panel has a brightness of 350 nit, a Colour Gamut of 85% and a contrast ratio of 4000:1.
The picture quality offered by the LED panel is good. The colours look vibrant and I did not notice any jagged lines or colour fades around the corners. The hardware underneath made sure that the mp4 files run perfectly. I played a number of Bollywood and Hollywood flicks and the experience was just amazing.
The LED panel has a refresh rate of 60Hz.
Sound
The sound department is handled by 4 mid-range speakers and 2 high-tone loud speakers. The combination results in a loud yet crisp audio. The vocals sound clear and the audio has also acceptable bass.
Software- A hub of multimedia content
The TVs are powered by LeEco' eUI5.5 user interface that brings content-viewing apps such as Levidi, LIVE, LeView along with other tailor-made apps like Panosearch. The two-year membership to subscription plans to YuppTV and Eros Now are provided by the Live and LeVidi apps. This allows you to watch the television content and a collection of Hindi movies without a cable connection. As of now, the options are scanty but the content ecosystem will improve overtime.
Besides, LeEco is also users will also get access to a cloud storage space of 5TB with strict privacy
One feature that I really liked about the UI is the capability of showing apps depending on the frequency of use. So if you are a frequent user of LeEco's LIVE app, then the UI will show it at top so that you can access it anytime without any hustle.
The Remote control
The TV come bundled with a smart Bluetooth powered 'Remote Control 3.0' that comes with four-direction navigation buttons and can be operated as an air mouse or gamepad to control multiple devices connected to the Super TV.
To pair the remote with the TV, you need to press the button hidden inside the battery compartment. There's a Le shortcut button to access the Le multimedia content. Besides, a microphone is also provided that allows you to control the TV by voice commands. Sadly, voice recognition is currently limited to Mandarin. LeEco will hopefully add the required language support in coming months.
Not to forget that LeEco is offering a two year product warranty and a panel warranty of four years, which is exclusive and is not offered by any other TV manufacturer. As far as service support is concerned, the company has 333 service stations across the prime locations in the country to handle consumer's problems.
Verdict
At a price-point close to One Lakh, the LeEco Super3 X- 65 seems to be a great package in the 4K Ultra LED TV market. The robust and elegant design, crisp and vibrant massive 65-inch panel and LeEco content eco-system makes it a compelling package for consumers looking for a cinematic experience in their living rooms.
