Laugh: common mistakes when you learn english

Everyone commits mistakes. From decision making to language learning, it has always been part of the learning process to commit mistakes. Without mistakes, we couldn’t possibly know how to correct ourselves and do the right things instead.

In the context to learn English language, language mistakes can be both hilarious and insulting. Well, this actually depends on how the learner responds to such error. He will either be offended when the people who heard what he said (or read what he wrote) would laugh at it, or, just be happy with it. Not that a learner would just be happy and then not learn at all. Of course, this will be the perfect time to correct such error and try to use the correct English the next time around.

But to tell you honestly, it is indeed better if we could just laugh at it, you know. I too, have been committing English mistakes from time to time. I even burst into laughter when I posted on Facebook the quote: “I will wait for your respond.” That is grammatically erroneous.

But as far as English learning is concerned, committing mistakes is never a new thing, especially for starters. The issue here is just to maintain a good and optimistic attitude and be happy that you are indeed learning as you go along the process.

I have lists here of few of the most common funny English mistakes.

From a student’s essay:
When I got home, I had a massage on the answering machine.

Sent in a message by a technical support specialist:

Feel free to contact me if you cause any problems.

A typical mistake from a Headway Elementary Progress Test:
They are like traveling by bus.

A quite common mistake:
She has a long black hair.
He has short fair hairs.

Said while talking about daily routines:
In the morning, I get up at seven o’clock; clean my tooth;
have breakfast; and go to work.

The best part when you get to learn to English language school is that you will never feel condemned. The teachers in language schools will immediately render assistance to you and assist you in improving your skills.

So, don’t always look to mistakes as unfortunate things that happen to you. Remember that mistakes are like stones that can be hurtful to you; but with the right attitude, it will turn out to be your guide in going to the destiny that awaits you.
