LE ROYAL MONCEAU, Paris, France

By Jaclynsindia @siennacharles

I stayed at Royal Monceau in April after it had already been open for 6 months. It was one of the most anticipated hotel openings in 2010 and is the first of its kind in Paris as compared to all the Palace hotels.

The location, just blocks away from Monceau Park in a very residential neighborhood, is one of its greatest assets. Many people complained that the neighborhood is too far out of the way, but if you are a true traveler, there is no such thing as out of the way for a great experience. The neighborhood is perfect for those, like myself, that have been to Paris millions of times and want to discover another neighborhood in addition to popular ones.

The designer, Phillipe Starck, completed a full renovation of the hotel, now with Raffles as the management company. Arriving at the hotel, the red carpet, awning and porters that greet you make for a great first impression. There is no check-in as you are ushered directly to your room - a great concept. There is an amazing vibe as you walk into the hotel. The common areas, such as "Le Grand Salon," are all bustling. I love the breakfast buffet at Le Jardin and the Italian restaurant Il Carpaccio is incredibly stunning.
