The Jaffna Special Crime Investigation Division on Wednesday arrested a lawyer who is a famous notary residing in Jaffna for preparing forged documents for a land by faking the signature of a dead person. The suspect is a 73-year-old lawyer who is a resident of Kondavil West. Earlier, on November 10 too, this lawyer was arrested by the officers of the Special Crime Investigation Department for preparing forged deeds for a land in Jaffna using the signatures of two deceased persons.
The lawyer who was remanded after being produced in the Jaffna Court was out on bail. The Police Media Spokesman’s Office states that the lawyer was arrested following a complaint received on December 18, 2021. The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office also stated that there are two other similar charges of preparing fraudulent documents against him.
