Lawrence of Arabia (and Val Lewton) Updates

Posted on the 11 October 2015 by Christopher Saunders
Lawrence of Arabia (and Val Lewton) UpdatesThe LA Times reports that the remarkable editor Anne V. Coates will receive a career achievement award from the LA Film Critics. Ms. Coates has been cutting since 1951 and is still going strong; it's mind-boggling to think that the woman responsible cinema's greatest match cut edited Fifty Shades of Grey earlier this year.
Concerning the real Lawrence, there's a furor over mining development near his gravesite in Moreton, Dorset. You can read about the dispute here, and if interested, sign a T.E. Lawrence Society-backed petition here.
As a final, self-promoting note, I'm writing a series on Val Lewton every Tuesday this month for PopOptiq (formerly Sound on Sight). You can read part one, covering Cat People and I Walked With a Zombie, here. Be sure to check out their other horror coverage as well.
