Police say there is no evidence there was an attempted robbery in progress when a convenience store clerk allegedly started shooting Monday evening - hitting a man in the leg.What's it sound like to you? Is this another one of those gun owners who act responsibly with their guns? You realize if there were no video surveillance this would have been another legitimate DGU.
Detectives said it appeared there was some kind of argument between the clerk and a customer that led to the gunfire.
The clerk - Alaael Ahmed El Hamalawi, 52, of Durham - was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
