Story: Last Call starts as popular poet Dylan Thomas (Ifans) is on his latest tour of America. Using drinks to get him through each show, has started to catch up with him. Forced into confronting his wife Caitlin (Garai) with memories, of the mistakes he has made in life.

This would become his last tour before everything caught up with him. Dr Felton (Malkovich) reflects on his life, along with friends and loved ones who saw his creative genius and his dark addictions.

Verdict on Last Call

Last Call is a biographical drama exploring the last tour of poet Dylan Thomas. Seeing how he was filled with addiction and creative genius. This shows how he spiralled out of control, pushing away the people that loved and respected him.

Like many tortured artists that were controlled by their demons, this shows another one who suffered. Causing too much pain to everyone around him, losing his creditability within the world, for his actions.

The performances can’t be faulted, as Rhys Ifans shows the poet slowly fighting his battles. John Malkovich is the doctor trying to help, knowing he is doing what he can but is tired of dealing with his selfish mindset of Dylan. Despite strong performances, the story doesn’t dive enough into who the man truly was.

Where to Watch: Last Call is available on Sky in the UK right now.

Final Thoughts Last Call is a slow-moving biopic, not really explaining enough of his life.
