Las Vegas NHL Owner Playing a Domain Name Game of Misdirection

Posted on the 09 September 2016 by Worldwide @thedomains

Las Vegas is getting an NHL (National Hockey League) team, the approval came a few months back but owner Bill Foley still can’t come up with a name.

Foley went to West Point and wanted to have something affiliated with Knights, the Army mascot is the Black Knights, it seems like lately Foley has resorted to playing games with potential domain investors who are trying to guess the team name.

Foley registered a number of domain names and filed trademark applications a couple weeks back.

Greg Wyshynski wrote on Yahoo that Foley admitted to leaking fake names, saying that the Las Vegas Sand Knights were a fake name from the start and were never a real choice.

Now it seems another registration LasVegasDesertKnights.com is up for sale on of all places, Ebay. The package of names consists of LasVegasDesertKnights.com VegasDesertKnights.com and LVDesertKnights.com. The asking price is a mere $199,000.

So it looks like another name idea is out the window. Foley has said he wants the name to be two words, the NHL said nothing gambling related will be permitted.

Foley hopes to have things settled by October. Perhaps Mr.Foley should have consulted someone from the domain industry like Bill Sweetman or Mike Berkens to coordinate the naming, domain acquisition process.
