Laptop to Tablet Will Be ‘Made in India’, PLI 2.0 Scheme Approved

The Government of India has approved the PLI 2.0 scheme to accelerate the development of the IT hardware sector and promote domestic production of laptops, tablets and other electronic products. A budget of Rs 17 thousand crore has been fixed for this scheme. The government believes that this scheme will increase employment rapidly in the hardware sector and this will greatly benefit the country.

Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed that the PLI 2.0 scheme has been approved in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is for 6 years. A budget of 17 lakh crore has also been allocated for this. He says that with the introduction of this new scheme, production in the hardware sector will increase by Rs 3.35 lakh crore and an investment of Rs 2,430 crore is expected.

Employment will increase rapidly

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also told that this scheme will create 75 thousand jobs in the hardware sector this year and lakhs of job opportunities are expected to be created in the coming years. He also told during this time that due to the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this year India crossed the figure of $ 105 billion i.e. about Rs 9 lakh crore in the field of electronics manufacturing. With this India has become the second largest phone maker in the world.

Domestic production will get a boost

The PLI 2.0 scheme has been specifically introduced to encourage domestic production of laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, servers and other electronic devices. At the same time, world’s leading IT companies have also shown their interest in India. That is why this plan has been approved.
