NFT marketplace VeVe and Automobili Lamborghini announced their collaboration to release digital collectibles of Lamborghini’s iconic sports vehicles.
The February 19 listing of the NFTs on VeVe will include the Huracán STO model with a number of rarity traits. Once purchased, collectors can display their NFTs in the app’s virtual showrooms, share them on their VeVe social feeds, and utilize augmented reality (AR) to view and “drive” their car on real-world streets.
Dan Crothers, co-founder of VeVe, told CoinDesk that he’s excited to give Lamborghini enthusiasts a new way to experience their favorite automobile, and that he expects the collection will help bring sports car fans to Web3.
“Owning, or even simply driving, a Lamborghini is a dream of many,” Crothers told CoinDesk. “The great thing about our community of passionate collectors is that they just love collecting, but we also hope this will inspire car enthusiasts to jump into the digital collectibles world, too.”
Lamborghini’s “Epic Road Trip” NFTs aren’t the only luxury automaker on Web3. Porsche produced a series of NFTs featuring its 911 car last month, but designers criticized the brand’s “rushed” Web3 strategy. The German automaker capped its mint after community reaction. McClaren and Alfa Romeo tested NFTs last year.
