With the exception of a few strategically placed tiny men, GaGa is fully nude in the print ad for “Fame.” The ad’s tagline reads “The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum.”

The title track off her 2008 album The Fame declares that she’s “obsessively opposed to the typical,” a philosophy that is revisited by her début fragrance.

Earlier this summer, images of GaGa’s first-ever fragrance leaked, prompting the artist to release details ahead of schedule. Alongside a photo of the bottle – which is a deep purple/black with a lavish gold top – and it’s packaging, GaGa tweeted its description. Before long, Little Monsters everywhere will be scented with “tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.”

This year’s September issue of Vogue gave the cover girl a chance to tease her audience with another glimpse into the fragrance. “’It must be black,’ she said, noting that when she met with perfume designers they had to make sure it sprayed on clear. ‘It must be enticing. You must want to lick and touch and feel it, but the look of it must terrify you.’”

Originally rumored to release a fragrance entitled “Monster,” the perfume has been long in the making; GaGa inked her deal with Coty Inc. in the latter half of 2010. Two years later, the fragrance has been reborn as “Fame” and will hit shelves this September.

With all the speculation surrounding her fragrance, GaGa is definitely the “fascinating cultural force” the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing in the Coty Beauty division, Stephen Mormoris, expected her to be.

With each luxurious promotional teaser, anticipation builds within GaGa’s dedicated fan base. Not only did famed fashion photographer Steven Klein shoot the print ad, he directed the 34-second commercial for the fragrance. Nudity, an S&M latex bodysuit, futuristic couture- all come together to create a darker, gothic vibe. Naturally, GaGa commands the presence of her attractive army, in this case, a spaceship of muscular men.
